I have a lot of emotions after receiving the news about bell hooks’ passing. Her spirit lives on in each of us who loved and appreciated her work. Let’s keep going, remembering what she voiced as a call for embodied engagement: “love is an action, never simply a feeling.”
Today, a new client asked me, “Is it weird to say I love you?”
Absolutely not.
This exchange struck me because it’s not every day that a professional connection verbally acknowledges care, concern, and investment in their aspirations with such passion. In accepting a new coaching client, I am heart-centered in my method of holding their feet to the fire. I honor them as the expert in their work and believe they are creative, resourceful, and whole. I am a guide, resource, and accountability partner as a coach. While I never say it out loud, I love each client I encounter, and I showcase my love in ways only bell hooks could describe so eloquently.
“Action, like a sacrament, is the visible form of an invisible spirit, an outward manifestation of an inward power.” - bell hooks
Who have you told that you love today?
I love you.
"Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together"
Can you name that tune? 👆🏾
To keep you up to date on the book pre-sale campaign, I am excited to share that we (collectively) passed our 100% Funding Milestone on our Indiegogo! With your support, I’ve reached my Tier 1 and Tier 2 goals to publish and we are SUPER close to hitting Tier 3. I am both thrilled and grateful about the response to this campaign. This wouldn't have been possible without you - so thank you all so much again!
“No woman has ever written enough.” - bell hooks
Please share widely and continue spreading the word. There are 7 days left to support the campaign until December 22. Will you help me meet the Tier 3 funding goal?

⚡️ Life is all about love, but not just loving those who love you.
⚡️ For 50 weeks in a row, I’ve gathered on Clubhouse every Sunday at 9 AM Eastern to co-create the BlackLinkedIn is Thriving Community after being inspired by Ashanti Martin’s article published in the New York Times. What started as a discussion of themes from the article has evolved into a beautiful space where we gather to connect, uplift, and generally support one another. Forbes featured our collective efforts last week, with another piece coming in early 2022.
⚡️ Did you know that bell hooks was a pen name? hooks’ literary double was her maternal great-grandmother, Bell Blair Hooks. May we all remember and honor our ancestors.
Much love,
