How Many Shots Are You Taking to Make this YOUR Jordan Year?
In reference to legendary basketball player Michael Jordan's jersey number, we're here in the 23rd year of the 21st century.
My question is about consistency and process as the focus instead of the outcome.
Michael Jordan missed more shots than he made during his career.
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
When it comes down to it, life is all about consistency and process.
I'm curious about what your strategy is for making sure that you're consistently working towards your most important goal. What steps do you take to ensure everything is going in the direction you want, and how do you stay on track with that?
I’ve had to revise some of my 23 for 23 to-do list, and next month, I will refine it again. The first thing I let go of was handwriting morning pages.
The idea with “morning pages” is that every morning you force yourself to write three pages of stream-of-consciousness writing. It's not about grammar or spelling or anything like that—you just dump your thoughts onto the page and let them flow out onto the paper.
With small children, though, this can be incredibly difficult to do. They wake up with the sun, and they have lots of energy. Quiet voices for mommy so she can write? NO! But there are possible hacks!
Here's a tactic I use: I spend 3 minutes writing down what I want to accomplish in the day, and then I spend 10 minutes meditating while “in the bathroom” where “mommy needs privacy.” It works wonders.

Where Can I Buy Me Power?
If you do not want to buy from Amazon, you can request your local bookstore to order Me Power. Be sure to provide the ISBN (979-8-88504-569-8) and let them know if others will stop by and order copies.

It’s also good to ask for a copy from your favorite library. I’m working on getting Me Power stocked at libraries. One of my goals this year is to get Me Power into at least one library and at least one bookstore in every city I visit this year (Los Angeles and San Diego in February; Austin in March; Albuquerque in April; NYC in May; and Sioux Falls, Mankato, and Minneapolis in June).
Instead of spending money on books that you might not read more than once, borrow as many books as you can from your local library. The only thing better than reading an e-book is reading a physical copy, right?
Me Power is now available for purchase in the following bookstores:
Kensington Row Bookshop - Kensington, MD
Greedy Reeds - Baltimore, MD
Curious Iguana - Frederick, MD
Theodore's Books - Oyster Bay, NY
Garcia Street Books - Santa Fe, NM
