Life, Love, & Laughter
I’m closing out the year with haiku, a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. I’ve been writing my three L’s of 2022 to reflect on what I want to take away from the year. Haikus are poems that capture the essence of thoughts and experiences in just 17 syllables. Within the confines of haikus, there is so much room for expression. I’ve always been drawn to the brevity of haiku.
Below, you’ll see that instead of the 5-7-5 structure, I changed it to 3-5-3. Why? When I started writing, I became fixated on starting and stopping on three syllables with three lines for The 3-31. I may have gone a little overboard with the three-patterning.
This year has been incredible for me. Each day I open my eyes, and I am not in a hospital bed fills me with so much gratitude. I’ve been able to reflect on what it means to live with a chronic health condition (i.e., dilated cardiomyopathy) that MAY NOT improve and how it impacts how I show up in life every day. This reflection process has also allowed me to think about what I want to bring with me into 2023 and beyond as I continue to set audacious goals for myself and grow as a person. The three things I plan on bringing with me are life, love, and laughter.
Life
Panic, fear
Where am I in this?
Here, renewed
Love
My heart swells
So large it is a
Condition
Laughter
I can feel
Snorts of joy with you

The most common question is: When will the audiobook be available? I’m aiming for spring 2023. Studio space for mid-January has been booked!
I thought about getting a voiceover expert to narrate Me Power, but ultimately decided it was vital for me to do it myself. The audiobook is an extension of myself and my work, so I want to be involved in its creation. It’s my book, and I want it to sound like me. Are you ready for the audiobook version, dear reader?

23 for 2023 To Do/Be/Accomplish List
Last week I shared my 21 for 2021 “Ta-Da” List, which is an essential step in reflecting on the year before I can create the next set of goals I want to accomplish in 2022. A “Ta-Da!” List outlines significant wins, experiences, or things you’ve accomplished. Here’s my “Ta-Da” List for 2022:
The image above is the story of my year.
What’s interesting about the lists is, at the end of the year, the original “To Do” List does not even matter. In the end, it’s all about what actually happened. The process is the prize and the “Ta-Da!” list forces you to search for the smallest things that can be counted as wins. The “Ta-Da!” List is an exercise that forces you to look for the small victories
What were your wins this year?
Are any more of you joining me in creating “To Do” and “Ta-Da!” lists?
I use the Ta-Da List to catalog the year before setting the stage for 2023. Setting the stage looks like creating a vision statement, crafting an intention phrase I can repeat and see daily, and selecting a word of the year. Here’s my “23 for 2023” To Do List.

⚡️If you can dream it, you can do it.
⚡️ There is a better definition of empowerment than the one that denotes giving someone else power or authority. In my book, I focus on the inverse of empowerment’s prefix: me. Me Power is about the power that comes from within and is manifested as a result of you becoming more of who you are. One of the defining characteristics of Me Power is a refusal to define yourself according to other people’s perspectives, assessments, and expectations. People manifest Me Power by becoming aware, exploring, and applying an ever-evolving knowledge of self and principled action.
