March Madness: Me Power Edition

"The March Hare ... as this is May, it won't be raving mad - at least not so mad as it was in March." - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

The etymology of “March Madness” is related to breeding. That may sound strange, but the phrase actually refers to a time when hares were in season and animals were mating in preparation for spring.

The idiom to be “mad as a March hare” dates back to the 16th century. The first citation that uses the phrase in Sir Thomas More's The supplycacyon of soulys in 1529: “As mad not as a march hare, but as a madde dogge.” It refers to the frenzied behavior of a male hare during the breeding season. At the time, people believed that the mating rage of hares caused them to lose their minds. From there, it became a metaphor for people who behave similarly.

Once a year, your inner hare gets to come out and play.

March Madness is a time when you can show the world who you really are and what you're capable of doing. It's also a time when you can inspire others by being your best self.

March Madness isn't only about basketball. It's about the freedom to be yourself. Embrace your inner hare and find the team that represents, supports, and uplifts who you are.

And if March Madness has taught us anything, it's that we should always be prepared for the unexpected!

⚡️This video sums up the amazing experience that was SXSW EDU. Created 24 years after South by Southwest (SXSW), SXSW EDU Conference & Festival “cultivates and empowers a community of engaged stakeholders to advance teaching and learning.” I attended for the first time last week and am eager for next year! I learned so much, met great people, and left feeling inspired. I was excited to watch and have my two-and-a-half-year-old son Donovan shout, “Mommy!” 38 seconds in.
