There's a certain bond we form with our technology. We rely on it daily, trusting it to be the silent ally that propels us through tasks, work, and sometimes even adventures. But what happens when that trust is suddenly shattered?
On Tuesday, November 14th, it was an ordinary evening, with the soft hum of the computer fan accompanying my work. Just as I was about to delve deeper into revamping my slides for a Keynote talk this Friday, my Macbook screen flickered and then... darkness. It felt like a cinematic pause, the kind that fills you with a sinking feeling, realizing that something just went horribly wrong.
My trusted digital companion, the keeper of my ideas and the canvas for my creativity, had decided to bow out, leaving me in a state of digital bereavement.
In moments like these, frustration and panic often take center stage. Thoughts race, and a million “what ifs” flood the mind. Yet, amid this chaos, there's a strange clarity that emerges—the realization that sometimes, things just don't work out as planned.
For a moment, it's easy to feel defeated, to dwell on the inconvenience and the setback. But perhaps there’s a different story hidden within these moments of malfunction—a narrative not of failure, but of opportunity.
Within every setback lies a seed of opportunity waiting to germinate. It's the chance to recalibrate, to explore uncharted paths, and to unearth reservoirs of resilience we never knew existed. As the dust settled from the computer chaos, a new perspective emerged—one steeped in the ethos of "Focus on Your Strengths."
Focusing on strengths doesn't negate the reality of challenges; rather, it emphasizes leveraging our inner resources to navigate through the storms. My strength wasn't merely in the functioning of a device; it lay in adaptability, problem-solving, and the ability to extract meaning from chaos.
My computer remains unfixed, a dormant piece of technology that has chosen a hiatus from functionality. As my computer rests in its dormant state, it serves as a poignant reminder—an emblem that Our Me Power lies not just in the functioning of machines but in the indomitable human spirit, which thrives even amidst technical malfunctions and unforeseen challenges.
I’m so excited for the WE Business Conference, tomorrow!
Three ⚡️ in 31 Seconds
⚡️In moments of technological collapse and unforeseen hurdles, we are presented with a choice—the choice to let these moments define us or to seize them as catalysts for growth. They become the canvas upon which our resilience paints its masterpiece.
⚡️Change is in the air: On October 30th I started a new role as the Student Wellness Center Director at Santa Fe Community College. My aim is the same as the college’s mission: TO EMPOWER STUDENTS, STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY. Driving the mission forward by:
1. Supporting our students
2. Partnering with our communities
3. Building capacity for college and beyond
⚡️There is no Me without We.
Nightmare fuel. I recently lost a bunch of files, but nothing on this level.
