I recently made this list for work. Our entire operation hit a wall we couldn't avoid, and these were some songs to get us through it (the title refers to the lone runway that stayed open). I'll add some more songs that I specifically use as well as they come to me.
I love how there is so much overlap between this playlist and the one I created and I see many on here that are in my second playlist. I treat the creation of these like a mixtape, thinking about the transition from one song to the next and if it works or not. Remember making tapes back in the day? I was relieved when CD's came out. Then my mind was blown when the first iPod appeared on the scene. The mediums most certainly shape our experience of the music, too.
Your list had a definite influence on this one! If nothing else, I had Curtis Mayfield in my head when I made it.
I definitely try and build some ebb and flow into these; usually I first throw everything in a pile, and then go through and rearrange them to fit better. Obviously something we couldn’t easily do back in the day!
All these years later, I can still remember seeing my first iPod. It stunned by both what it could do, and it’s design.
